Applicants are hereby invited to apply for the position of Programmer Analyst II (Non-Management Grade 5) within our Group Information and Communication Technology Department.

JOB SUMMARY

 

The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing, designing, testing and implementing moderately complex computer programs as well as maintaining the Bank’s core application systems. He/She will also be responsible for developing and performing testing with stakeholders to ensure requirements and objectives are achieved.

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Investigates, analyzes and defines requirements utilizing his/her general understanding of the Group’s application systems
  • Constructs, amends, tests and documents program modules from user specifications to achieve a well-engineered product
  • Troubleshoots and fixes daily production issues that affect the Group’s applications
  • Provides on call support for critical production issues as assigned following the pre-requisite training and experience gained on the job as arranged by Management
  • Tests and applies compliance/fixes supplied by vendors of the Group's applications to resolve outstanding issues whilst ensuring that data integrity is maintained at all times
  • Develops and maintains reports, routines and database scripts to meet user requirements
  • Reviews all work and creates documentation prior to implementation to verify consistency and conformance with established Information and Communications Technology (ICT) guidelines
  • Constructs, interprets and executes test plans in a thorough and reliable manner
  • Presents technical problems, processes and solutions verbally and in written formats in an accurate and timely manner
  • Plans and schedules assigned work in a timely manner in conjunction with his/her Supervisor
  • Maintains working knowledge of required standards, methods and tools for analysis and program development and documentation
  • Engages in marketing of the Group’s products and services
  • Responds to customers’ requests, enquiries, incoming and outgoing calls, both local and foreign, in a courteous and timely manner consistent with operating standards and escalation to Supervisor/Manager
  • Completes special projects and other related activities as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems/Computer Science/Software Engineering from an accredited institution with one (1) year's relevant experience such as in Applications Development OR an Associate Degree in Information Systems/Computer Science/Software Engineering from an accredited institution with three (3) years relevant experience such as in Applications Development
  • Certification and knowledge of PROFILE (Integrated Banking System (IBS)), u/Switchware, T24, Unix, Linux, Java, Microsoft SQL Server/Informix SQL. Reactive Web Design will be considered an asset
  • Strong proficiency in API Development and Web Services
  • Broad understanding of information systems concepts and practices
  • Proficiency in the development of computer databases, local applications/systems and web applications
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently
  • Completion of a supervisory skills workshop
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated capabilities in project management
  • Ability to read, analyze and use complex documents and forms
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers (both internally and externally) with a high level of professionalism
