JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining and extending specialist technical and application knowledge of communications, concepts, architectures, standards and protocols to enable inter-connection and inter-working of systems over Local and Wide Area Networks for data, voice, text or image. He/She will also be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and supporting the Group's growing network infrastructure, ensuring the designs are developed for scalability, maintainability with high available network architectures meeting business objectives and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs capacity management on all relevant systems at primary and secondary data centres, remote Branches and offsite locations
- Performs patch management at primary and secondary data centres, remote Branches and offsite locations relevant to Network Architecture
- Administers systems backup and archiving of all domain controllers, file and mail servers, video and voice systems
- Administers operating systems, Voice/Data/Video systems, Firewall systems and other related database applications
- Implements approved production enhancements in accordance with the change release process
- Administers preventative maintenance on systems in collaboration with vendors to ensure maintenance of systems uptime in accordance with Balance Score Card standards
- Initiates action to solve problems involving all Voice/Data/Video infrastructure, Firewall, hardware, software and database systems
- Installs, commissions, tweaks and upgrades new and or existing Voice/Data/Video systems, Firewall systems, hardware systems, software systems, database systems
- Establishes communication infrastructure by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards
- Provides technical guidelines and project management support for new corporate branch office openings, expansions and relocations of existing Branch offices
- Administers templates/documentation/standards ensuring bandwidth, security, performance and inter-application compatibility is considered using authorized tools
- Advises and trains staff on technical strategies when using software, security, anti-virus and database systems, features and or products inclusive of advanced or novel applications
- Maintains and updates firewall rules securing the network by developing network standards in accordance to the Group's information security policy
- Develops end user documentation and troubleshooting procedures for approval and conducts training for the technical support team
- Identifies and recommends third party software and or system solutions for enhancing systems availability, resiliency, maintenance and performance
- Administers the implementation of information technology security, network connectivity and contingency management policies, standards and guidelines and disaster recovery plans
- Engages in marketing of the Group’s products and services
- Responds to customers’ requests, inquiries, incoming and outgoing calls, both local and foreign, in a courteous and timely manner consistent with operating standards and escalation to the Supervisor/Manager where necessary
- Completes special projects and other related activities as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in an Information Systems field relating to Networking and/or Electrical Engineering
- Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Certified CISCO Network Associate (CCNA)
- Candidates must also possess a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in the area of Voice and Data Communications, Voice Over IP Systems (VoIP) and Routers, preferably CISCO
- Strong oral and written communication, supervisory and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving, teamwork and conflict resolution skills
- In-depth knowledge of Firewall Systems (Checkpoint and Cisco FWSM), Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft Exchange, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, security protocols and the ability to troubleshoot network and internet connectivity issues
- Ability to use initiative, work independently and exercise sound judgment
- Ability to read, analyse, interpret, and use complex/technical documents and forms
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Windows Serve
- Knowledge of the Group's Operating Software Systems, Products and Services
- Ability to work outside normal working hours including weekends
- Ability to Travel
