JOB SUMMARY

The incumbent will be a Registered Stock Broker for the Group and will have regulatory and compliance responsibilities. He/She will also supervise the equity traders.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Generates budgeted P&L for First Citizens Brokerage & Advisory Services Limited
• Authorises and executes trades on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange
• Ensures compliance with all rules of the TTSE and Stock Exchange in all of the activities of Brokerage Operations
• Liaises with counterparty brokers in sourcing supply or providing demand for equities traded on the TTSE and with auditors from the Stock Exchange to ensure satisfactory ratings received on Brokerage Operations
• Ensures annual external audit is completed in a timely manner and resolves any queries on the operations
• Liaises with the Securities & Exchange Commission in response to matters dealing with registration of the Company, its Brokers and Traders
• Leads for Initial Public Offerings and Additional Public Offerings
• Guides, directs and provides oversight for staff on work activities, projects and programmes in unit
• Authorises cheques, wire transfer requests and settlement documents arising from the Equity and Fixed Income operations of the First Citizens Investment Services sub-group
• Authorises documents related to the purchase, sale, transfer and lodgement of securities on the Local market
• Ensures procedures are documented and followed in the execution of Brokerage activities
• Liaises with the back office to ensure efficient and timely settlement of all Equity transactions
• Reports on the operations of the Brokerage arm of the business to the Board of Directors on a quarterly basis
• Actively seeks opportunities to boost the company's income, profits and image in the local financial community
• Manages the budget for the section/area and accounts for variances for the efficient and professional operation of the Unit
• Prepares and delivers presentations to targeted clients to generate interest in equity investing on the local market
• Keeps abreast with general accounting principles in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards and other laws and regulations by which the Group is guided
• Publishes articles for the local media on topics of interest to investors and the investing public
• Supervises Equity Traders in execution of trades
• Manages human resources necessary for the efficient and professional operation of the Company
• Performs all other duties, assignments and special projects as assigned by the Board of Directors and Senior Management relative to the function

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• •  
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business related field from an accredited University or other professional qualification from a recognized professional body, Certified Financial Analyst, A.C.C.A with seven (7) years of progressive experience in banking, including three (3) years of experience in equity trading and overall, at least five (5) years at the Managerial Level OR 
• Executive Diploma/Diploma and ten (10) years progressive experience in banking, which must include three (3) years experience in equity trading, with at least seven (7) years at Managerial Level OR 
• GMDP Certificate and twelve (12) years progressive experience in banking, which must include three (3) years experience in equity trading, of which at least ten (10) years must be at the Managerial level
• Chartered Financial Planner would be an asset
• Working knowledge of the legislative and regulatory environment of the Securities Industry
• Strong negotiation and trading skills,
• Knowledge of strategic Planning and Bank operations
• Knowledge of the operations of the financial markets and investment products
