JOB SUMMARY

The Audit Data Analyst supports the Internal Audit function by identifying, accessing, validating, analyzing, and interpreting data to enhance audit planning, execution, reporting, and follow up. This role applies data analytics across the entire audit lifecycle to improve audit efficiency, increase coverage through full population testing, and strengthen assurance over business processes, IT processes, and internal controls. The Audit Data Analyst works with audit teams to support data analytics automation and continuous auditing as well as to integrate analytics into audit planning, risk assessment, and control evaluation.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Research and remain current on emerging data analysis techniques, audit analytics tools, and industry trends.
• Identify and escalate data quality issues that may indicate control deficiencies or process weaknesses.
• Design analytics to test, including but not limited to: Business process controls IT general controls (ITGCs) Application and automated controls Segregation of duties (business and IT)
• Apply relevant analytical techniques, including but not limited to: Duplicate and gap testing Sequential, cutoff, and aging analysis Trend and outlier detection Digital analysis, Joining and comparing data from multiple sources
• Provide data analytics guidance and peer support to auditors.
• Develop, document, and maintain repeatable analytic routines and scripts.
• Prepare exception reports, dashboards, and supporting schedules. Translate analytical results into clear insights using effective data visualization and storytelling techniques.
• Perform data cleansing, normalization, and reconciliation while preserving data integrity and audit evidence.
• Apply or support advanced analytics techniques (e.g., predictive analytics, anomaly detection models) where appropriate to enhance risk identification.
• Analyze large, complex datasets across multiple domains, including financial, operational, and system generated data.
• Apply data analytics to identify unusual trends or anomalies.
• Engage with business and IT stakeholders to understand processes, data structures, and control environments where applicable.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy, confidentiality, and information security policies when handling sensitive data.
• Validate data for completeness, accuracy, relevance, and reliability prior to analysis.
• Independently extract data from source systems (financial, operational, and IT systems) in support of audit activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

• Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data/Business Analytics, Statistics/Mathematics, or a related analytical field with five (5) years progressive experience in audit data analytics or analytics closely aligned to audit testing and controls OR
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data/Business Analytics, Statistics/Mathematics, or a related analytical field with two (2) years progressive experience in audit data analytics or analytics closely aligned to audit testing and controls.
• Preferred Certifications/Licensures:(IIA Data Analytics or Data Literacy Certificates or other recognized data analytics related certifications)
• A Valid T&T driver’s license
• A Valid passport and the ability to travel overseas as required
• Ability to work outside the normal working hours including weekends and Public Holidays
• Understanding of data architecture, data lineage and governance frameworks to ensure appropriate use and interpretation of data sources
• Strong understanding of audit lifecycle, internal controls, risk concepts and compliance requirements
• Proficiency in data analytics and data tools such as but not limited to Excel, SQL, ACL Alteryx and Power BI
• Ability to document analytics clearly to support audit trails, review and repeatability
  Experience with scripting languages that support data manipulation, automation, and advanced analytics is advantageous
