JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent will be responsible for preparing financial statements for assigned accounts as well as preparing all supporting schedules in a timely manner including the provision of accounting analysis and the processing of accounting information.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares periodic management accounts and financial statements, and accompanying schedules and notes, ensuring their accuracy and completion in a timely manner, in accordance with all statutory, regulatory and other requirements for submission to management for approval.
- Provides analyses on assigned accounts as requested for review before submission to relevant parties
- Liaises with auditors and other external parties to provide relevant information/documentation in order to facilitate the audit process
- Prepares various statutory reports for review before submission to regulatory bodies
- Reviews routine daily journal entries prepared by Accounting Assistant 1 for posting into the accounting system
- Supports the accounts receivable and payable functions, including statutory payments, payment of bills to vendors, preparing billings for fees and ensuring that all payables and receivables are reflected accurately in the General Ledger
- Prepares financial statement adjusting journal vouchers for authorization before posting to the relevant accounts as required
- Files correspondences, reports and other documents while ensuring that the filing system is properly maintained and secured
- Engages in marketing of the Group’s products and services
- Responds to customers’ requests, enquiries, incoming and outgoing calls, both local and foreign, in a courteous and timely manner consistent with operating standards and escalation to Supervisor/Manager where necessary
- Completes special projects and other delegated activities as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Candidates must possess ACCA level 1 or equivalent accounting qualifications
- Five (5) GCE O’Levels A, B or C or CXC grade I, II or III including Mathematics and English Language which must be at grade I or II or A or B level. Please note that not more than two (2) of the other subjects should be at a grade III level
- A minimum of two (2) years experience in accounting
