JOB SUMMARY

 

The incumbent will be The position of Portfolio Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the assigned portfolio of accounts, including complex corporate accounts within the Corporate Banking Unit, ensuring that the quality of the accounts is maintained at all times, and the highest standard of customer service is rendered to the clients in an effort to retain the business for the Bank.

 

 

 

 KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Responsible for ensuring that each loan within their portfolio is accurately entered on Profile and the integrity of the information associated with the loan is maintained throughout the life of the Facility
  • Prepares and submits accurate and comprehensive credit proposals in a timely manner to the Senior Portfolio Manager, Head Portfolio Management and Operations, Executive management, Credit Committee or Board of Directors for approval
  • Performs annual credit reviews (performance/stability/security/risk) on all assigned accounts and prepares related proposals for approval on a timely basis, which also includes performing detailed analysis and interpretation of financial statements
  • Monitors arrears on overdrafts and loans assigned, as well as collections for delinquent accounts
  • Monitors and completes monthly Classified Credit Management Report (CCMR) in a timely and accurate manner, including other quarterly and miscellaneous reports on accounts for submission to Credit Administration or as required
  • Manage, maintain and control delinquency on assigned accounts to avoid placement in the Non-Performing Portfolio of the Bank's Corporate Portfolio
  • Manage effectively a portfolio of complex and large credits at an acceptable level of risk
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of corporate accounts to detect financial and managerial problems that may arise with companies and take prompt corrective action.
  • Keeps abreast of PEST (Political, Environmental, Social, Technological) in relation to the customer's business operations and produces periodic reports (recommendations/tools) to Management and in support of credit recommendation
  • Interacts and maintains working relationships, including responding to assigned customers' requests, inquiries, incoming and outgoing calls, both local and foreign, in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Implements and maintains programs and procedures to ensure loan quality, maintenance of accounts within authorized limits, security regulations, and identification and management of problem loans.
  • Identifies additional funding requirements from the existing portfolio and recommends clients for new business.
  • Establishes and maintains both internal and external networks to provide the necessary support to the customer and ensure service standards are maintained
  • Ensures that assigned clients are in full compliance with the loan covenant and protects the Bank from undue exposure
  • Drafts and vets letters of offer on all terms & conditions for approved credit applications for senior management's review, including letters of decline, before preparing/finalizing letters of offer/decline and Board ratification forms for sign off.
  • Conducts Annual ESMS (Environmental & Social Management System) Surveillance on selected credits as part of the group's commitment to our ESG initiative, with at least 1-2 ESMS reviews conducted per year.
  • Completes special projects and other delegated activities as assigned by Senior Management / Heads - CIBU 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in a business related field from a reputable field from a reputable University or other professional qualification from a recognized professional body e.g. CFA, CIMA, ACCA and three (3) years progressive experience in managing corporate accounts of which at least one (1) year must be at the Supervisory level in a credit or risk environment, OR 
  • Executive Diploma/Diploma and five (5) years progressive experience in banking with at least two (2) years at a Supervisory Level OR 
  • GMDP Certificate and seven (7) years progressive experience in banking, with at least three (3) years at the Supervisory Level
  • Experience in the field of Corporate and Commercial lending will be an asset
  • Working knowledge of banking law and regulatory legislation, as well as relevant legal and regulatory requirements, both locally and regionally
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
