Job Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for evaluating Corporate & Commercial, Retail and Investment Credit Applications (all jurisdictions) and for making recommendations for approval/decline within the delegated lending authority and in line with established regulatory reporting requirements as well as based on internal risk policies and reporting requirements. He/She will also be responsible for ensuring that credits are turned around within the set targets and for assisting in developing and maintaining appropriate credit risk management measures, to ensure a portfolio of the highest quality is achieved.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Adjudicates on credit proposals from the Group, in accordance with the Group’s credit policies and within delegated lending limits
- Assists the Senior Manager with monitoring of the credit portfolio to ensure portfolio quality and compliance with Group Level Policies and Limits
- Ensures and maintains good relationships with all stakeholders (internal and external)
- Assists the Senior Manager with the preparation of updates to policies, frameworks and procedures for the management of Credit Risk
- Reviews new /amended legislation/ regulations for impact on Credit Risk Management and submits recommendations accordingly
- Ensures internal and external audit reviews on Credit Risk Management and Credit Administration achieve acceptable ratings
- Manages the Human Resources assigned to this position towards the completion of the Department’s targets and objectives
- Creates, conceptualizes and develops special projects as assigned
- Performs all other duties, assignments and special projects as assigned by the Senior Management relative to the function
Qualifications and Experience
- Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a Business related field from a reputable University or other professional qualification from a recognized professional body e.g. CFA, CIMA, ACCA and three (3) years experience in a commercial / Corporate credit function, at least one (1) of which must be at a Supervisory Level OR
- Executive Diploma/Diploma and five (5) years experience in commercial / Corporate credit function and at least two (2) of which must be at a Supervisory Level OR
- GMDP Certificate and seven (7) years experience in commercial / Corporate credit function and at least three (3) of which must be at a Supervisory Level
- Certification in Credit Risk Management will be an asset
- The ideal candidate must possess knowledge of corporate finance and credit risk management
- Knowledge in investment management including; understanding of asset structures, analytical techniques, principles and practices of portfolio management, regulatory environment, Pension and Mutual Fund legislation
- Strong problem solving, evaluation and analytical skills, as well as good communication and presentation skills are also required
