JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the overall strategic direction, growth, profitability and operational performance of the Retail and Commercial Banking Units while also having collective responsibility for the entire group, sitting as a member of the Executive Team. The incumbent will also be responsible for the development, implementation and/or execution of strategy- business and technology for the physical branches and electronic service delivery for retail, commercial and corporate customers for First Citizens Trinidad and Tobago, and the effective administration of human resources in respect of the alternative business channels, ensuring that all solutions are aligned with the Group strategy.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute the long-term strategic and annual business plans and targets
- Lead strategies for the achievement of profit targets, performance improvement programmes, customer service and Balanced Scorecard initiatives
- Ensure that arrears are maintained and actioned
- Lead business projects such as those related to Change Management, Process Implementation, Policies and Procedures Reviews, Efficiency Reviews
- Ensure compliance with Group policies and procedures and with the Financial Institution Act
- Ensure the submission of accurate and comprehensive Credit Proposals to the Executive Management or Board Credit Committee for approval
- Lead and direct initiatives pertaining to Loans Campaigns, sales and service, products etc, and ensuring that the relevant analytical metrics are implemented
- Deliver presentations to existing and prospective clients and ensure the timely completion of Annual Reviews and Proposals
- Ensure effective management of the customer service and Sales components of the business to enhance the Group's competitive advantage
- Perform all other duties, assignments and special projects as assigned by the Board of Directors and Executive Management relative to the function
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Candidates must possess a Post Graduate Degree in a relevant discipline from a reputable University or other professional qualification e.g. CFA, CIMA, ACCA, from a recognized professional body and a minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience with at least ten (10) years at a senior managerial level in Retail Banking OR
- A first degree and a minimum of fifteen (15) years relevant experience in Banking, at a Senior Management level with a successful track record of performance
- Expert knowledge of Banking and Banking Strategies
- Working knowledge of financial concepts and theories, investment management including understanding of asset structures, analytical techniques, principles and practices of portfolio management, regulatory environment, Pension and Mutual fund legislation
- Working knowledge of the economic and general business environment coupled with knowledge of the banking and financial services industry
- Working knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements both locally and regionally
- Knowledge of Risk Management
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, business and financial acumen, and negotiating ability
- Ability to maintain utmost confidentiality in all aspects of this position
